Jesus continues to reach on the new Kingdom principles by showing how his new kingdom completes the Old Testament covenant. Christ is calling us to live a life that people may see the character of God through our lives in which we do the unnatural by not only loving our enemies, but praying for them as well.

MATTHEW 5:43 – 48

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers,[i] what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

1. How can I reach out to my enemies this week in a way that shows them love?

2. In the past, how have I retaliated against those who have hurt me? How can I begin to be merciful in that relationship as my heavenly Father would be?

3 .How can I daily preach the gospel to myself that I may be a true reflection of my Heavenly Father to someone who desperately needs Him?

“What better way to reflect the character of God than to reflect his gospel to a world full of hate that is in desperate need of hope and love.”Pastor Will Clark
